The Conference 2010
- The People and Places Conference 2010 took place over two days, Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th February at The Macdonald Marine Hotel, North Berwick, East Lothian.
- The 2010 conference theme was Reducing Anti-Social Behaviour for a Safer, Cleaner and Greener Scotland
- This was the fifth People and Places conference and awards dinner.

- Programme Manager of the Year - Brendan Corish, AMEY
- Award for Support of Communities - Stirling Council
- Best Local Environment Quality Innovation Award - Falkirk Council
The Awards
- Keep Scotland Beautiful's People and Places programme now present awards in four categories.
- The Programme of the Year Award recognises innovation and commitment to improving the overall local environmental quality.
- The Programme Manager of the Year Award goes to the Programme Manager who has shown the most commitment and and enthusiasm to utilising the People and Places network to improve local environmental quality.
- The Award for Support of Communities recognises engagement with local communities in order to improve and enhance neighbourhoods in their local area.
- The Best Local Environmental Quality Innovation Award is presented to the programme that has tackled a local environmental quality issue or specific local area using a new and innovative approach.
Past Conferences
- Almost 700 people have attended a People and Places conference in the last five years.
- Delegates include local authority representatives from street cleansing, environmental health and waste management departments, regulators, community groups, educational bodies and other land managers.
- The People and Places Conference 2009 took place in Dunblane and the theme was The Importance of Local Environmental Quality in Public. Brian Taylor was the after dinner speaker and presenter of awards.
- The 2008 conference was held in Dundee and the theme was Community Engagement in improving local environmental quality. Sally Magnusson was the after dinner speaker and presenter of awards.
- With the theme Technology and innovation within the field of environmental quality the 2007 conference was held in Aviemore. Hardeep Singh Kholi was the after dinner speaker and presenter of awards.
- The first People and Places conference was held in 2006 in Glasgow. It was opened by the then Minister for Environment and Rural Development, Ross Finnie MSP. He kicked off the Keep Scotland Tidy campaign to reduce smoking related litter in preparation for the introduction of the smoking ban at this conference. Fred MacAulay was the after dinner speaker and presenter of awards.

- Best Local Environmental Quality Innovation Award - Edinburgh City Council - In 2006 there were seven award categories. The award winners were:

- Award for Supporting Community Clean Ups - Argyll and Bute Council

- Best Improved Management of Litter Award - Falkirk Council
